Sr. User Experience Designer with Creative Director Expertise
User Experience / UI Design / Ecommerce / Marketing Communications / Design / Brand Strategy
OVERVIEW
At Nike I am Lead UE designer for the Enterprise Architecture and Developer Platforms (EADP) squad. As lead product designer I’ve been designing Nike’s IDX Developer Platform to serve Nike’s 5,000+ engineers. My responsibilities include user research, strategy development, wire-framing, interactive prototyping and UI design. I collaborate with cross-functional teams for implementation, feedback gathering to refine the final output.
Prior to Nike, I was a Sr. UX Product Designer at Indeed working on the Engineering Platform team. Recent projects include: Backstage at Indeed (an open-source platform), development of Golden Path methodologies, design and launch of AWS Cloud VM tool, GitOps, GraphQL, Ownership platform, Software catalog and others.
Prior to Indeed.com I worked for IGT, Inc. an international gaming and lottery technology company that partners with casinos and lotteries all over the world. As the senior user experience designer, I worked on both player-facing UI as well as backend administration tools that enable casinos and lotteries around the world to offer land-based casino entertainment to online players across all platforms and devices. My responsibilities included: product development, feature definition, user story development, usability testing, interaction design, prototype development, and UI design. I collaborated with globally dispersed engineering and product teams, to ensure that implementation meets the defined specifications and business objectives.
Prior to IGT, I was engaged for a three month Sr. UE Designer contract to help in creating Daimler’s first cloud-based software platform to allow Daimler, and their vocational truck partners, to program the switches and gauges used to control truck up-fit components. Truck up-fit is how a “blank” vocational truck becomes a: fire truck, utility truck and more. Each truck up-fit requires unique configuration of hardware and electronics, as well as simulations and troubleshooting. My responsibilities were similar to those of my current position.
Prior to Daimler, I was engaged by Intel to create an AI-powered data analytics platform for the continual delivery of insights from proprietary manufacturing and test data. To do this, I created interactive data visualizations that enabled Intel engineers to explore manufacturing and test data repositories for their 400M-units-a-year manufacturing output.
At Cisco Systems, I was a lead user experience designer helping create new cloud-based SaaS platforms for; collaboration, security, audio & video, and cloud-based Admin tools used to sell, configure and support, enterprise customers.
As a founding team member of real-estate start-up SmartZip, Inc., I helped take them from blank-slate, to launch, in just 12 months. My work included: brand positioning, naming, product development, UE and UI design, prototyping, usability research, competitive analysis, product roadmap development, copywriting and advertising.
Prior to SmartZip, I moved from NYC to San Francisco to become the first creative director for: Hotwire.com, and subsequently, Shutterfly and Logitec. My accomplishments included: improving Hotwire’s marketing communications performance by as much as 58% resulting in an increase of monthly contribution of over $300,000 in three months as well as increasing online registration metrics by 200%. At Shutterfly I generated over $4M in incremental revenue through the redesign of the web site, product development, advertising, and direct mail. At Logitec, I directed: package design, print, ecommerce, experiential and email marketing campaigns. While I did good work, and I enjoyed leading creative teams, I decided that within the enterprise environment, I am most effective (and happiest) as a hands-on UX designer working on: internal start-ups, product overhauls and significant new product features for SaaS.
Prior to my relocation to the west coast, I founded digital design agency Neokom where my team and I designed, developed and launched over 240 websites. We also helped clients to raise over $21 million in capital. In one example, our re-architecture and redesign of NHL.com increased their online sponsorship revenue from $3 Million to $11 Million annually. My work on behalf of StuartWietzman.com increased their ecommerce revenue by over 75% in one year.
Prior to Neokom, I founded NYC brand identity agency SME Design. For 10 years my partners and I grew it to a global agency serving Fortune 100 clients and professional sports leagues all over the world. As a direct result of our work, clients generate over $2 Billion a year in licensed merchandise sales. When the agency was sold to SFX Entertainment, I spun-off the digital design services division to create Neokom.
I started my career at Polo/Ralph Lauren in Men’s Design where I authored the first relational database created to track fashion photography. I also authored Ralph Lauren’s five-year fashion design automation plan that included some early exploration in robotics. I left Ralph Lauren to start my first design agency, SME Design.
As an independent consultant, I enjoy providing in-the-flesh, and online, brand experience design services, including: brand positioning, naming, brand identity for products, sports, collegiate and corporations. All forms of marketing communications (including creative copywriting), licensing, merchandising, product development, sports & experiential marketing.
